When it comes to the membrane it can be similar to a TSA airport screen check or a Country border entrance with an agent controlling the traffic of travelers. People are trying to get to the other side. The agent verifies who can go in and out with the proper identification to screen the travelers. What is allowed to pass through? During the process of trying to get to the other side people must go through a screening process to enter. These people already have a passport or visa to enter the border making their entry easier. The job of checkpoints is to check the traveler's status to travel. Bags must be checked, and bodies are scanned.
